The Greek historian Strathbone speaks of a sanctuary actually on this beach, dedicated to the Sirens. It was along this stretch of coast that Ulysses [as set out in the 12th book of the Odyssey] had to use the famous avoidance strategy to escape the seductive song of these mythical daughters of A-------after whom our Hotel is named.

In the 1930s the grandfather of the present owners ,anticipating the advent of tourism to the bay, converted part of the building formerly housing a monastery associated with the Carthusian monastery of San Martino in Naples ,into a hotel.

The marble foundation stone near the entrance dates the building towards the end of the 1600s. Gradual renovations over the years have resulted in the present day Hotel/Ristorante Le Sirene still family run and dedicated to hospitality.
